With regard to bug report viewtopic.php?f=3&t=12025

I retested that case and am still finding a problem with the alpha statistics:

identify -verbose image.png

Depth: 16/8-bit
Channel depth:
red: 1-bit
green: 1-bit
blue: 1-bit
alpha: 8-bit
Channel statistics:
red:
min: 0 (0)
max: 0 (0)
mean: 0 (0)
standard deviation: -0 (-0)
green:
min: 0 (0)
max: 0 (0)
mean: 0 (0)
standard deviation: -0 (-0)
blue:
min: 0 (0)
max: 0 (0)
mean: 0 (0)
standard deviation: -0 (-0)
alpha:
min: 0 (0)
max: 0 (0)
mean: 55.0361 (0.215828)
standard deviation: 103.896 (0.407436)

Alpha: none #0000000000000000

An alpha channel having a min of 0 and max of 0 and non-zero mean and std does not seem correct to me

If you look back at the previous bug post, you will see that that alpha channel had max=1 and min=0 (which of course for an alpha is backwards. But at least the min and max were different as they should have been for a binary alpha mask.

Sorry if this is premature and you are still working on it. Just wanted to let you know in case you were not aware and not working on this fix any longer. At least it looks strange to me.

Good catch. The problem is fixed in the ImageMagick subversion trunk. Thanks.
