They are a documentation (minor) bug in convert:

Manual page of convert(1) reads:

NAME
convert - convert between image formats as well as resize an image, blur, crop, despeckle,
dither, draw on, flip, join, re-sample, and much more.

SYNOPSIS
convert [input-options] input-file [output-options] output-file


The terms "input-options" and "output-options" are never
referenced. Please list what options belong to the first and which to
the second group.
