compose alpha broken on 6.6.5-10 & 6.6.6-3? 6.6.4-10 OK

Does it matter which option to use -matte vs -alpha set? I'm a bit hazy on all this transparency stuff!
It should not if you have a current enough IM version that supports -alpha.
